Nate & Nina // anniversary
Nate & Nina were married on December 30, 2017, on a -7 degree day in Vermont. The snow-covered farmlands all around their venue made for stunning images, but the weather was too much to bear for more than 15 minutes.
Nina and I struck up conversation at a party at my boyfriend’s house, and I thought she was so freaking cool. I nerdily asked to be instagram friends (ha), and that eventually led to her reaching out and asking for anniversary photos. She said she and Nate wanted to put their wedding attire back on, find a hike in the Gorge with some sweet views, and head out to capture more portraits than they could on their wedding day.
Almost a year to the day of their wedding, we headed out into White Salmon, WA area on a rainy, 35-degree PNW day. It was chilly, for sure… but it was also more than I could have hoped for. When we reached the location, we hiked ten minutes up to this gorgeous, rich green landscape with rolling grass-covered hills, giant rock walls, hidden waterfalls and sweeping views. To say it was nuts would be an understatement. It was completely nuts, and we had a blast.
Nina willingly traipsed around with her SOREL boots on underneath her beautiful BHLDN dress. Nate looked dapper as all get out in an Express suit and skinny tie. These two were down for anything. They laughed and recounted stories like when Nate fainted at the altar (not enough sustenance, and too much in-and-out of the cold and heat) along with three of his groomsmen. They talked about how they accidentally got a cat, how their friendship and love started, and their awesome dog (as my awesome intern-friend Kylen warned them against getting a second dog with hysterical tales of her own two dogs).
We finished up the day with some beers and tasties at Full Sail in Hood River, then headed out to Latourell Falls for a literal ten-minute shoot. The waterfall spray was so intense that it soaked us all within minutes.
What. A. Day. As we almost reached the hike parking lot, I told them, “These are my absolute favorite kinds of shoots to do.” It’s true. It’s so much fun getting to know some awesome new friends, hang out, be silly, and make some magic. I hope you enjoy this sweet session as much as we did.
